Robinhood Secures UK Crypto Registration Ahead of 2027 Rules

Robinhood’s crypto revenue fell 38% year over year last quarter, even as total transaction revenue rose. Robinhood has taken a step forward in the United Kingdom. Its local subsidiary joined the Financial Conduct Authority crypto asset register on July 31. The registration confirms that Robinhood follows current anti-money laundering rules. It allows the company to offer certain crypto services under the existing system. Britain set up FCA registration for crypto firms back in 2020. The rules focus on stopping money laundering and terrorist financing. More than 50 firms already sit on that register. The list includes Ripple, Kraken, BlackRock, and BNY. What the FCA Registration Means This registration is not the end of the road for Robinhood in the UK. The country plans to roll out a new crypto framework in October 2027. Once that framework starts, firms doing regulated crypto work will need fresh FCA authorization. The current registration does not carry over on its own. Applications for the new regime open on September 30, 2026. The window closes on February 28, 2027. Firms that apply during that window can use a savings provision. It lets them keep operating if the FCA has not finished reviewing them by October 2027. Applications sent after the deadline will not get faster reviews. Firms that miss the window and remain unapproved will face limits and cannot sign new contracts once the framework begins. Robinhood has not shared a launch date for its UK crypto services. Total value locked on Robinhood Chain climbed to $733 million. Morpho makes up the largest share at over $308 million. Ethena follows with $214 million, and Maple Finance holds close to $69 million. Uniswap added another $58 million to the network. These protocols bring liquidity from established Ethereum applications rather than short term speculation. Data from DefiLlama shows the ecosystem holding $391 million in value locked, along with $1.08 billion in bridged assets. Stablecoin supply on the network sits at $534 million. The network also generates about $48,000 in daily fees. Apps built on Robinhood Chain collected $1.29 million in fees and roughly $199,000 in revenue. Robinhood’s crypto business had a mixed quarter overall.
