AEON is building a universal crypto settlement layer that enables users and AI agents to pay real-world merchants with digital assets. Its infrastructure connects blockchain-based liquidity with existing merchant payment systems, allowing crypto payments to be used across both online and offline commerce. AEON is designed to address the fragmentation between crypto assets, blockchain networks, wallets, exchanges, and local payment infrastructure. A user may hold assets on one blockchain while a merchant expects settlement through another blockchain, a bank account, an electronic wallet, or a local acquiring network. AEON coordinates payment routing, asset conversion, verification, and settlement between these systems. The infrastructure is supported by a unified node network that processes and verifies transactions across on-chain and off-chain environments. Smart contracts are used to confirm transaction conditions and settlement outcomes, while payment connections allow merchants to continue receiving funds through systems compatible with their existing operations. AEON QR Pay is integrated with mainstream crypto exchanges and wallets, enabling users to make merchant payments directly through platforms where they already hold their assets. Users do not need to transfer funds into a separate AEON account before making a payment. AEON currently supports crypto payments at more than 50 million merchants worldwide. Its coverage includes supermarkets, restaurants, retail stores, travel services, transportation providers, entertainment businesses, and online merchants. Supported markets include Vietnam, the Philippines, Nigeria, Brazil, and other countries across Asia, Africa, and Latin America. In several of these markets, AEON reaches a substantial share of local retail merchants through existing QR-code and payment networks. This gives exchanges and wallets a way to add real-world payment functionality without independently integrating with merchant-acquiring systems in each country. It also allows users to spend a range of supported crypto assets through familiar wallet or exchange interfaces. For merchants, AEON manages the crypto-related elements of the transaction, including blockchain routing, asset conversion, and settlement. Merchants are not required to accept the same asset used by the customer or manage crypto infrastructure directly. In supported payment corridors, AEON is intended to reduce processing costs and improve payment completion rates compared with some conventional card and online payment routes. AEON also extends this settlement infrastructure to AI-driven commerce.
